A new appointment with “The sun and the snow”, the art volume published by Fermoeditore, with texts by Luigi Alfieri and illustrations by Enrico Robusti: this time at the Manara Library in Borgotaro on Saturday 26 January at 17:00.
After slow food comes the slow book, the book to be enjoyed slowly: “Il sole e la neve” challenges the e-book, an actual and tangible object, a book as opposed to the virtual book and the civilization of the algorithm. A limited edition, handcrafted book: to be picked up, browsed, smelt, to be left on the bedside table. To read without haste, enjoying the thousand different sensory emotions which it exudes. A treasure trove of small pleasures, beyond narrative and illustrations.
The counter-revolution starts with the materials: the cardboard cover is reminiscent of class registers or books used by cowboys to record the daily production of “animals”. The texts and the illustrations are printed on straw paper, used by grocers in the Sixties to wrap cheese and salami. The binding is strictly handcrafted, created with string used to tie salami or culatello ham. And it is precisely as a valuable culatello that this unique volume should be treated.
