It’s true, it’s definitely better to work on the future than being a star of a time that slips away… and this is the philosophy of Giampaolo Allocco.
Delineodesign is industrial design, of course Giampaolo and his staff draw lamps, chairs, furniture like everyone else, “think” accessories for the world of sports, but mostly they did marry design with the world of disabled, with that part of world that due to accidents finds itself having to use something special to move. And the ideas that make for Progeo are technologically futuristic!
DD is real industrial design
Absolutely. But I would also point out that it is all result of a training sometimes random and other sought after. I started as an apprentice in a printing house and proceeded to fill well-paid managerial positions. Then I decided to leave everything to get back to study and pursue design. Maybe I’ve always been a planner, so I followed my fate. Today I have a wonderful professional life that gives me a variety of moments of great intensity from the human and experiential. I would never go back.
Dedicating ideas to disability, a strong argument, not indifferent and not for all…
It is not so difficult if you have a totally opposite approach to common thinking. I treat paraplegics I meet and those I work with, like normal human beings because it is so. I expect achievement of results and objectives even if they are seated. Sometimes it makes me angry their sense of revenge towards life (but how can not I understand them?). Therefore, when necessary, I take them out and about and also play down situations. I’ll tell you a secret: when I was 26, after an operation I sat for a long time in a “mutual” wheelchair that resembled a tank. In those days I promised myself that sooner or later I would have laid a hand on this world.
The choice of a quiet provincial town as a location.
I chose from the beginning to open an office in Montebelluna as a World District of Sports System. It is worldwide recognized and is frequented by English-speaking manager of Northern Europe. Staying here is like being in a big entrepreneurship square. Of course (for design) I suffer from a lack of cultural activity of a certain quality, but today (with hindsight) I think it was a well thought-out choice because it has changed my life, my affections, my balance. Reached a professional maturity, today I say that having base here (while traveling Europe for work) was critical to the achievement of a very clear identity: the sport designer. That’s why I decided to build an avant-garde home for my business too.
