The pursuit of happiness, including the erotic one, is innate in man, but you can learn how to get there. Word of Betty Rose, creator, and she’s the only one in Italy, of the Bon Ton Burlesque, which comes from a purely Italian idea, inspired by the Teatro di Rivista, and to which she – born Piera Cipriani – adds a fairy-tale and surreal touch, almost cartoonish. Movements, positions and dance moves naturally reveal themselves as sensual, creating an irresistible mix with the character she invented. Not an improvised show, based on the strip, but a show that grows genuinely vintage paying tribute to the Thirties and Fifties.
Bon Ton Burlesque is an intelligent show, catchy, funny, exciting, easy to read, never vulgar, in which the viewer becomes part of the ironic and seduction game created by the artist. Born as a choreographer, actress, dancer and mime for major companies and theatrical performances ranging from operetta, to musical comedy and opera, Piera had fundamental artistic experiences at the London Academy of Burlesque and Coquineries École Paris, that influenced her significantly in creativity; Betty Rose, reminiscent in its appearance and gestures the famous character of the world of animation Betty Boop, was created by the encounter with the Burlesque. The two Bettys are close, but hers is full of what Piera has learned on and off the stage.

It is the fundamental impulse that moves the human being towards the pursuit of pleasure.
What are the characteristics of your burlesque? According to you is a seduction technique?
My style is based on dance and theater, furthermore the Bon Ton Burlesque encourages the woman to bring out her personality through a cocktail of femininity and irony inspired by the elegance of the femme fatale of the past and the irony of Fifties’ pin-ups.
We know that you give courses in Parma. Sensuality and irony, important aspects both of burlesque and of love life, can they be learnt?
Yes, I have been organizing gorgeous courses in Parma for several years. I am very satisfied with the women participating because I found in them the growth of an inner
well being. Definitely the fusion of humor and sensuality are the characteristics of burlesque in general, and burlesque is the art form where the woman can express more! This also helps in private life, to defuse many situations and in the love life it adds that little bit extra pepper that makes relationships hotter.
Currently Betty Rose works as a teacher and performer, without betraying her unique and inimitable style. There are ongoing classes of “BonTon Burlesque” in three different schools of Parma, and two courses of “Burlesque Therapy”, where art of burlesque and psychological sharing groups meet to provide health tools, awareness and mental and physical health and identity, in connection to the main themes of the female world sphere.
