A “thrilling” Christmas, an evening full of mystery and intrigue dedicated to police commissioners and investigators everywhere. In the style of Chandler, but between the mist of Parma and the towers of Bologna, with a hint of: Marlowe, through to Commissario Soneri and to Commissario Abate.
Friday, December 14, at Ristorante Ca’ Pina in Parma (via Traversetolo 200 – Botteghino), will be the venue for the year’s last Eat as you write event. The pre-Christmas evening “Night of the Commissioners and investigators” will start at 9 PM, and guests will include the writer Valerio Varesi from Parma, fellow author Matteo Bortolotti from Bologna, and cartoonist Alex Alberici, also from Parma.
A literary and artistic dinner that, among four courses and three wines, will offer diners short presentations and readings of “classics” by Varesi featuring the police inspector Soneri (played by Luca Barbareschi in Raidue’s series Nebbie e delitti), Matteo Bortolotti, who in his new thriller Il mistero della loggia perduta “plays” himself, and the ghost-detective Commissario Abate, the atmospheric thriller Goldfish (Fermoeditore), loosely based on the tale by Raymond Chandler and illustrated by Alessio Alberici.
Between the Parmesan and balsamic vinegar tart and piping hot anolini, with a main course of roast capon and crunchy chocolate dessert, during the dinner led by the journalist Negri, the special guests will entertain the diners with brief speeches and presentations.
During the action-packed evening, Varesi will give a brief preview of his new work, to be released next month (the novel Il rivoluzionario, published by Frassinelli), Bortolotti will give us a hint of what’s to come in the new series of thrillers that’s just started, and Alberici will display the original images from Goldfish, a valuable collector’s item printed on vintage paper with illustration techniques from the 1930s.
