It’s ready for his first presentation a new Fermoeditore’s project: Whodunit, blue cat?
It was the end of 2011 when the I.E.D. – European Institute of Design – in Milan asked to Fermoeditore to participate in the thesis of graduates. The publisher accepted by posing as a generic theme noir, and expressing a wish: to see produced a book that you can read in the company.
Giulia Coppola, Silvia Magnani and Paolo Zadra took up the challenge, and thus was born Whodunit, blue cat?, the story of a murder told from three different points of view: that of the murderer, that of a unwilling witness child and that of the detective who must solve the case. To join the three stories is a blue kitten with a long tail, present at crucial moments, perhaps the only one who knows the truth. The three stories are told in three different books, contained in a box, designed to let your imagination roam free and make room for interpretations; to be exchanged playing sitting around a table, to comment with friends and family.
The protagonists are the illustrations, accompanied by onomatopoeia and synthetic “suggestions” in English. The international vocation is emphasized as early as the title in two languages: Giallo come un gatto blu (literally “yellow as a blue cat”) becomes Whodunit, blue cat?, referring to the deductive detective story or classic crime story. The images speak for themselves, it is not necessary to understand the meaning of sounds and words.
The materials and paper industry solutions – such as the special paperback milled with 180° opening – are chosen with care, in the purest style Fermoeditore.
Offered in a preview to the children of an elementary school, the book-object has already been field-tested. Result: lots of fun, a lot of questions, excellent resistance to the ill-treatments.
Yellow as a blue cat will be presented for the first time in Parma, home of the publishing house, on 8 November 2013 at 18.00, at the Mondadori bookshop inside the Euro Torri shopping center. Authors and the publisher will be present.
